Mausoleum of Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir
Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir was born in Rahimganj village of Barisal. He joined Kakul Pakistan Military Academy on October 5, 1967. He was commissioned on June 2, 1968 after diligently completing his training. After six months of service, he joined the Military College of Engineering at Risalpur and passed the long 13-month basic course with distinction. From there he did the bomb disposal course and established himself as an efficient officer of the Corps of Engineers and earned a lot of reputation. In 1971, when the invading forces were wreaking havoc and brutalizing Bangladesh, Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir entered Indian territory through the Sialkot border, eluding the hill border guards of Karakoram's friend. After leaving India, he reached the border of Bangladesh. Martyr Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir was working as the commander of Mukti Bahini in sector 7 of Chapainawabganj border area of Rajshahi district under the command of independent Bangladesh Army. Under his able leadership, the Mukti Bahini instilled terror among all ranks of the invading forces as a terror. The enemy's impregnable strongholds fell one after another as the Balian Liberation Army surged with lion strength. On December 13, 1971, Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir crossed the Mahananda river and advanced towards Nawabganj to destroy the enemy forces. On December 14, he was destroying impenetrable positions to break through the enemy's strong formation, when only one enemy position remained, this sun soldier of Bengal was martyred by an enemy bullet in a bunker charge in a face-to-face encounter. The two eyes that were firm yet promising with thunderbolts, which were ever awake like a watchman of freedom, dreaming of a future independent golden Bangladesh, became silent. On December 15, the body of martyred Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir was brought to the historical Sona Masjid premises.
