Srifaltali- Zamindar- House- Is- Historical- Place- At- Gazipur.

Srifaltali zamindar House BD Gazipur

Srifaltali Zamindar Bari is one of the oldest Zamindar Bari located in Kaliakair Upazila and one of the few archaeological sites in Bangladesh. This zamindar house located in Srifaltali village is called Chibaltali by the villagers. This zamindar house is divided into two parts.  One part is called the big side, the other part is called the small side.

The Srifaltali Zamindar Estate was formed by owning nine annas of the famous Talibabad Pargana.  This Srifaltali zamindar house was founded by Rahim Newaz Khan Chowdhury, the youngest son of Khoda Newaz Khan, the head of this estate.

In managing the zamindari, he used his own kachari bari as well as the garden bari of Adharia bari as an office.  His zamindari range extended to Mymensingh, Saturia, Onarsingdi.  It was due to his singular efforts that almost 100 years ago, Talibanabad Pargana was separated from Savar and came to be known as a new thana called 'Kaliakair'.

Like other zamindar houses it has two sides.  At large you can enter and explore without permission.  However, on the small side, the successors of the zamindars still live and are rented out as shooting spots.  But entry there is subject to permission.  Between the big side and the small side is the Zamindarbari mosque which has been extended with the demand of time.  Upon entering, another small side will be visible on the right side of the big side.  You can see from outside, all the doors of the landlord are locked.  A few families live in the rear part of the big side.

In those days there was an invisible competition between the zamindars for their wealth, houses, ponds, schools, colleges and hospitals.  The competition was about whose house is bigger and what are their crafts.  These zamindari areas and zamindari houses are a product of the zamindari's silent competition in these matters.

It is said that when the zamindar left this house, he plastered all the ornaments and valuables that he could not take with him on the walls and floors of the house and left the furniture and other things in the house and locked it.  Later, many tried to find them without success.  Many people say that those gold jewels are guarded by big snakes!!  And at night you can hear various ghostly sounds!!

Beyond all fairy tales and folktales, the decoration and artistic beauty of this zamindar house will fascinate anyone.  Behind this two-storied house there are a few more single-storey old houses worth seeing.  One still has a cantilevered pillar evident.  But the boundary walls are crumbling.  On the other side of the boundary wall is another zamindar house, which I mentioned earlier, and between the two houses is a mosque in the style of the old Mughal period.
