Bengali food of rice, bharta, bhaji, jhol, dal has no comparison.  Insar Ali's khuder bhat and 10 types of bharta will make your stomach burn with hunger.  There are also fried eggs.  It will be good to eat a little more even if the stomach is full.  Local people, people of different ages come there from far and wide.  Even young people leave Dhaka and flock here.

Inser Ali's khuder vat

Not far from Dhaka city.  Rohitpur is a village in Keraniganj upazila.  Tin houses on both sides of the road, small ponds in empty spaces, paddy fields in some places.  Completely rural environment.  You will not even know when you will reach Sohana Hotel after seeing the nature on both sides.  Sohana Hotel is written in big letters on the signboard.  A century ago, a very common man, Insar Ali, started Sohana Hotel.  The small hotel sold simple food and snacks.  But he used to cook a special thing;  khuder Khichuri.

Insar Ali's hotel in Ruhitpur, Keraniganj.  Two tin houses on either side of the road.  an old one.  Inside the tin is rusted, covered with soot.  There are four or five small tables and benches for sitting.  Sitting on it, people are swallowing small rice in Gogras.  The house across the narrow street is new.  clean too.

Maybe there is no decoration like the hotels in Dhaka.  But there is a rural charm here.

Holidays mean business is more crowded on Fridays.  100 plates or more food is sold on this day.  Cyclists come here to eat more.

This khichuri of Insar Ali is now famous.  The taste is also memorable.  From morning to night, the smoke of selling Khudar Khichuri is there.  People don't mind standing outside and eating without getting a place.  Insar Ali said, 'People are promoting me.  My khichuri is being eaten from far away in this village.  Everyone knows me now.  This is my achievement.  '

What is in this Khuder khichuri

After washing the rice, the small broken rice is found, that is khud.  That Khud Insar Ali cooked like a pollaw.  With various fillings and eggs.  This method of cooking is called 'Khuder Vaka' in Keraniganj.  Khuder Vaka kept in a big pot on the table.  Red, green and other colored fillings arranged in small plastic bowls.  First, small rice is served on the plate, then around the plate is arranged around the plate 10 items of bharta including prawns, shuntki, brinjal, potatoes, dried and raw chillies.  Fry the egg in the middle of the plate.  Price per plate is 40 tk.  Tea is also available here after the meal.  This tea is made with cow's milk.
