Baldha Garden is a botanical garden located in Wari area of ​​Dhaka city which is located in Wari of old Dhaka.  Its area is 3.38 acres.  Around 1909 Narendra Narayan Roy Chowdhury, the zamindar of Baldhar in Dhaka district (now Gazipur district) brought various flowers and rare plants from different countries of the world and planted them in this garden.  The main attraction of Baldha Garden is several Shapla houses filled with red, blue, white, yellow varieties of Shapla.  Besides, rare species of indigenous and foreign orchids, cactus, anthurium, Bhujjapatra, camellia, Bakul, Ashok, African tulips, Amazon lily and other species of plants.


Baldha Garden is actually a museum of plants and flowers.  But there was also a real museum in Baldha Gardens.  There were also some metal statues.  As Baldha Garden has different plants from the country and abroad, famous people from the country and abroad used to visit Baldha Garden.


 There is still no lack of interest of the people of Dhaka about Baldha Garden.  Rabindranath Tagore also visited Baldha Gardens.  Then he gave Bengali names to many foreign flowers in this garden.  This was his garden house.  Narendranarayan also established a family museum here.  Here it became the cultural center of Dhaka's elite.  There were regular music sessions.  It is believed that Baldha Garden is named after Baldha.





 He created two gardens.  The first garden was named "Psyche".  Later the second garden “Sibley” was created.


 The garden is divided into two parts by a wide road.  After entering a little distance, the conch pond will be on the left hand side.  Nice place to sit around and hang out.  There are steps down to the water.  Many would sit there with their ankles in the pond and talk


The name of the two-storied house near Sankhanad is 'Joy House'.  In the old structure, the stairs to the second floor are iron, and the front porch is open on three sides.  There is an environment to soak in the pure air of nature





Among numerous rare and rare species of flora there is a large collection of orchids.  Among the various species of aquatic plants are the blue lotus, yellow lotus, kachuripana and the lovely Amazon lily.  Its leaves are very thick and tough, looking like a plate with a diameter of more than 2 meters.  Lily flowers are very attractive, blooming in the evening.


 The Cactus House has a variety of charming fanimsa plants.


  The garden has a large collection of rare palm species.  There are various types of shrubs, vines, medicinal and beautifying plants.


At present it is a satellite unit of the National Botanical Garden.  About 800 species of 18000 plants are preserved in this garden.


Rare species of trees such as Latajba, Sharadmallica, Cananga, Kanak Sudha, Kontak Lata, Dhupagach, Papyrus, Shvet Chimul, Hing, Uvaria, Rupelia, Cordia, Anjan, Garshinga, Alia, Acrocarpus, Portlandia, etc. can be seen in the garden.


 Baldha Bagan has facilities for students' research in photography and Psyche section on rent.  Students are allowed to visit the garden free of charge if they apply in advance.


How to go:


 Going to Jatrabari or coming from there, take bus number 8 Gabtali Parihan, Balaka Seating Service, bus number 36 Ark Paribahan and get off at Rajdhani Super Market.  Baldha Garden can be reached by a five minute walk along Hatkhola Road from here.


 You can also go directly by rickshaw from Gulistan for a fare of 30 to 40 taka.


Ticket Counter:


 There is 1 ticket counter on the left side of the main gate.  There is no need to queue for tickets, but on public holidays or special days the queue should be taken at noon.  The ticket price for all is same i.e. 15 rupees.  Children under 2 years of age do not need a ticket.  Fridays and Saturdays are more crowded.  It gets more crowded in the afternoon.


 Opening hours:


 Open daily from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.00 pm to 6.20 pm.  This garden is open to all.
